Almost every post program for each accounting module has a differences. Some have to print before posting some don't ( you should be able to opt to post without printing anytime). Some ask you if you want to post after the print or print to screen and others you have to selected the option again to post after the print. The period close programs also have some differences. Some after you post, tell yo they are done and have an ok prompt that comes up, others don't. Simplify them all and make them all similar.

Some programs the window will come up the same size and position that they were the last time you used them (preferred) others always come up the same size and shape every time. Reports always come up full screen. AP post windows always come up same place same size as last time. GL post windows always are in the same place and same size regardless of how you changed them the last time you used them. Picky stuff, but when they all work the same, it saves time. You know where to click and can see what you want to see on the screen when they are saved where you last set them.

  • I think if it is generally accepted as requirement to print/display before a batch can be posted, then after a print/display it should come up and ask you if you want to post like it does in Cash Management, Process Bank Transactions. This allows for a screen print, and prompt to post all in one step. All the other batch posts that I use in accounting, you first have to print/display and then have to go back to the original window (hidden behind any screen displays) and select post. Takes a lot more steps/time to accomplish this way.

  • This is completed for the upcoming 2013 version (Q4 2012 planned release) of Sage 500 ERP

  • NOTE: The first part is completed, the screen size/position is already a separate Idea.
