Add the function to display what items are not on hand top pick if the generate orders screen. Also show short kit components.

It seems to me that the "Process Order" function should provide for default setting options (within "Set Up SO Options") that represent the standard pick/ship process for the company when using the "Process Order" button. When this isn't the case then you go outside of the sales order through the pick,generate shipment and edit shipment process. We prefer to generate the order from within the sales order for ease of processing, but this does limit some of the options that are available.
