Reversal - If Reversal is not selected when processing a journal entry, there is currently no easy way to reverse a journal. On occasion, a journal is incorrectly posted. It would be helpful to be able to select a journal id and be able to create a new journal entry that is the equivalent of a reversing journal.

It would also be helpful to be able to select a journal id and be able to copy it. This is similar to a recurring entry, but this would not require the setup or the use of dataporter.

  • I can't think of a logical reason why this is not available. I wouldn't use it very often, but it would save so much time and grief when I do need it.

  • We have come across this multiple times in the last few months and it would be much easier to just click a button to have it reversed rather than key it all over again and have to remember to key it in reverse. I know another proarm JD Edwards, when it was around, had this ability. I don't see why this program couldn't also incorporate something like that.

  • There was a process and tools developed for this that used to be taught in the classes and promoted as a way to allow reversal while easily preserving the audit trail. Basically, you use the Export GL Data to export the journal by date or account range, usually as a delimited file, then use GL Import Data to create a new unposted journal transactions batch. You can manipulate it (carefully) in Excel after exporting and before importing, or just import it and make modifications in Process Journal Transactions.
