One of my users in Purchasing asked if there is a way to associate his username/login with a function that would populate the 'Buyer' field with his name automatically when creating a new Purchase Order.

This would expediate the process by a few clicks, a few seconds out of every hour. Over time this would save time for those users.

I noticed that MAS allows certain other fields to auto-populate with defaults; why not this particular field?

I imagine one would tie the Buyer's username to the 'Buyer' name field, then populate the field upon creation of a new Purchase Order appropriately.

  • Use customizer to add a new field to the user preference to store the buyer code. Then use customizer when you open the PO entry form to grab the row from this table and place it on this field. This is a simple approach, but may work for you. I did it a bit more involved for a customer, because we had already modified the po form for the customer.

  • I agree, it makes the Maximum Authorization amount useless as a PO creator can just select a buyer that has a higher purchase limit.
