Delete and unpost transactions so transactions can be re-entered correctly. Most systems offer this now.

  • It would be helpful in most cases to be able to unpost especially when you have accidentally hit the post button. It makes for a lot of work to undo what you did!

  • As a former auditor I won't use a program that allows you to delete as it increases fraud risk factors. It isn't fun to have to create correction entries but at least you can track exactly what happened and when.

  • We have added utilities to assist in backing out incorrect transactions in recent releases. See Manufacturing and Accounts Receivable for new tasks to accomplish reversals quickly whilst maintaining an audit trail.

  • The recently added features, such as the Reverse Applications task, are nice, but we would still like to have the ability to easily reverse just about anything that can be done in the system. We'd love to have an "Undo" button! The concerns about fraud risk and having an audit trail are certainly valid points, but couldn't that be solved by storing all the "undos" in a log file? That would be the best of both worlds. You would no longer have PORG reversals and customer return transactions (which didn't actually happen but were done only to fix mistakes) appearing in the front end, and you'd still have the audit trail in a log file if needed.

  • Fraud risk is not relevant. The Unpost is more accurate. It adds and "Additional" entry that reverses the prior one. We do this manually with data porter when necessary. Reverse, and re-record. There is no fraud risk. Transactions cannot get deleted. It's a more accurate audit trail. (vs risk of re-doing and making even more mistakes. Believe me when I tell you this happens...) Undo is more accurate.
