At a certain point in our month end close(when financial statements are created), entries to the General Ledger are cut off. If an entry is appropriate at this point, then permission is granted to enter it in Sage. There is nothing stopping someone however, from putting an entry in without permission. It would be helpful to have Sage lockout entries so permission must be given to proceed.

This is VERY IMPORTANT. I need to lock GL like you can lock AP & CM. PLEASE...
You may want to review your security configuration. There is the ability to exclude a group from entering GL Journal Transactions so that nefarious "someone" will not be permitted to create or post a transaction.
