Provide a way to store miscellaneous notes about an item and set the note to pop up in the SO or PO entry screens whenever the item is added to an order. This functionality was added in Sage 500 2016 for customers. Please extend that functionality to items.

Usage example: A particular product that we sell must have a special label applied to it only when it is shipped to a particular state. The special label is not needed when it is shipped to the other 49 states. We would like to have a note pop up whenever an order entry person places this item onto a sales order to remind them to have the shipping department apply the special label if the item is being shipped to the special state.

  • Another usage example is that this could be used to prevent items from being placed on Sales Orders before a proper Safety Data Sheet has been obtained for the item. It would work perfectly for that purpose if it was available.

  • Some fairly simple Customizer code fits easily into SO Entry but it's the additional infrastructure that's required related to the item that's a bit more time-consuming. It can be done by an end-user though without waiting for Sage.
