I was a SAGE 100 user previously to using SAGE 500 and when printing a GL Trial Balance standard report, you could choose to print an entire year and show beginning and ending numbers with activity. It was a simple drop down list where you choose the beginning period and the ending period instead of only have a choice to pick one period. So, instead of having one drop down box where you pick the period, have two and you choose the beginning and ending. Was nice to run the trial balance for the entire year to give to the auditors at year end showing all activity in certain accounts without the detail that you can do in the detail transaction report.

The closest you can get to this is the GL Transactions report in Summary by deselecting the period or selecting a range of periods. Sage 500 was originally designed to work with FRx (and its successors) for better control over financial reporting so it was always weak in this regard.
