Whether through acquisitions, expansion or other business process changes, it may be necessary or desirable to change the Product code / number. We want to keep the statistics and history together.
Right now, we can use the Supersession Product and Supersession Date to set up a relationship between the old and new product, but this requires setting up a new product first. The relationship isn't transparent.

I have had some luck using the existing Key Change functionality to accomplish this task. Dev > Util > Misc > Key change set up (GESACG) and Mass key change (ACHANGE).
Possible through key change functionality, but it is cumbersome and should be an easier process. I'm not 100% sure that key changes update history and open orders properly.
