Currently to firm up MRP result on either Enterprise Planning or Planning Workbench, the user has to right click on the line and click to another function to create the Work Order. With a list of over 100 work order suggestion on the MRP result, it's taking a lot of time to firm up work orders. It would save us a lot of time if the user can directly edit the MRP result on the Workbench table (grid), instead of the need to click to another function.

  • Have you considered using the Grouping WB to execute the firming action? If you don't want suggestions grouped, you can activate the project field and just put in a different character on the suggestion line for WOS for the same product. That will prevent them from consolidating on a simple WO.

  • Thank you, Jeff, for the suggestion. We are currently using V5, and the project field is NOT active for Grouping Workbench for "Planner". It is active for "Buyer", and we've been using it to generate POs, but it's not active for "Planner" when we try to create work orders. I am not sure why, but we can mass create POs with Grouping Workbench, but we can NOT do the same with work orders. Even with Grouping Workbench, we need to "include/exclude" the suggestions, and create work orders one group at a time. Also, the "inline editing" I am hoping for is more like a shortcut to create work orders without the number of functions the user need to go through. It could be because of our computer equipment being outdated, but everytime when we load up a new "window/object", it takes 3 ~ 5 seconds just to display all the fields and information. For some higher level work orders, it IS necessary go through the functions for the scheduler to plan properly. However, for most of the work order suggestions, the Planner already know what needs to be done, and just need a easy way to firm it up.

  • Manufacturing\Batch Processes\Automatic Release.

This will massively firm up suggestions to WO according to selection criteria.
In version 6, a "View" button allows you to make adjustements to the list prior to updating.
