The BOM function in X3 supports many different business types and industries. Because of this the number of fields required during the entry of a component/ingredient line can be numerous. The usability of the function could be significantly enhanced by providing a transaction code to control the entry process and what fields are displayed and prompted. This would be done in a manner similar to that used for WO entry, SO entry, etc.
