It would be nice if there was a way to adjust the transaction screens and field order (i.e. Sales order grid, work order grid) without having to put your activity code on it. We frequently get requests to move positions of fields around on screens and for most screens the only way to do it is change the position field on the screen. This is not retained when new patches are applied and you have to remember to do it again. To retain the changes, you can put your activity code on them, but that could cause problems to the fields not getting updated with patches, so we're in a catch 22. It would be great if there was a place on the transaction that you could not only specify what fields you want to show, but what order and what label. We have many fields where the labels need to be adjusted for our user base.

The authoring mode that is provided (starting in version 7) in future releases will start working towards this requirement. Initially, there will be some limitations depending on the function but the intent is to allow both personalization and customization in a manner that allow for frictionless upgrades. This transition will take time as it requires fundamental changes to the underlying SAFE engine.
