The controls that are associated with the product status are very powerful. What would really increase the flexibility would be to make the product statuses user configurable. That is provide a status and a series of check boxes (corresponding to the existing controls) allowing for the expansion/contraction of the controls during a customer implementation. So via this configuration, you could change if the product could be ordered, sold, etc.
