The Patching process takes too many steps. The messages are confusing, the patches should be cumulative.

  • Need a feature like Windows Update. X3 should notify the administrators when a patch is available. When you are ready to install the patch, you should be able to click on the notification and X3 takes care of the rest. X3 should download the patch and install it in ONE step!

  • there needs to be a self-installer for the client portion. it is a waste of time to have to update everyone's client software after a patch.

  • Myra, adding a client self-installer is an excellent suggestion. Thanks for adding it to this feedback request.

  • Documentation needs to be improved too. You have to refer to at least 6 different documents in order to apply one patch set. And they are not complete. P23 for example, in one document it lists 3 new parameters, but I have yet to find one of the parameters and no help on any of them to know what they do. One is easy to determine, but not absolutely sure on other two. So frustrating!

  • Hi guys, recently I have came across a demanding request where we need to rollback/uninstall an add-on patch on an Endpoint where it shouldn't got installed at the first place. Not sure how to fix this issue completely as tracing all tables, screens, fields, etc that has been affected by this add-on is just a nightmare (not that I am saying impossible).
I have tried to de-activate the Activity code of this add-on but still I can see the traces of it here and there and don't know about future wrong impact of this wrong patch installation.

In short, it would be really nice and helpful if we have a tool where it can trace back all effects of a new patch (Standard, Specific or Add-ons) and uninstall them. Something that cab delete all newly added elements and restore all modified elements (like Windows restore point).

  • SAGE is behind that the update process is slow and complicated. Being able to dynamically install and remove individual features and updates should be common in SAGE, as it is available in other ERPs.
