The current Packaging part of X3 doesn't provide you with the flexibility you need to actually use it for product packaging. There are many software systems and developers who understand the logic and flexibility of product packaging, but X3 seems to have just put something together and named it Packaging just for the sake of it. A more defined and robust packaging system would encourage the use of packaging within X3, considering that all the information is already available there. For example, Pitney Bowes has an actual packaging function in their shipping software that allows you to track how products were packaged and shipped. I would really like to see some improvement there without having to pay extra for something that should have been there to begin with.
