The customer has raised a concern around the different behaviour between Purchase and Sales processes when using dimension control against G/L accounts.

On the Purchase side, when dimensions are controlled against an account, the system requires the dimensions to be entered at Purchase Order level. This is because the account is available in CPTANALIN for Purchase transactions.

However, on the Sales side (Quotes, Sales Orders and Shipments), the dimensions are also recorded in CPTANALIN, but the account reference is not populated at this stage. As a result, the same dimension control cannot be applied in the Sales process at order entry level.

The customer understands this is the current system behaviour, however they feel this creates an inconsistency between the Purchase and Sales subledgers. Both processes ultimately post against G/L accounts, so they would expect the behaviour around dimension control and account linkage to be consistent.

The current difference means that:

Purchase transactions require dimensions to be entered based on account controls.
Sales transactions do not enforce the same requirement at the equivalent stage.

This creates confusion from both a setup and user perspective, as different rules need to be applied depending on the transaction type.

The customer would like Sage to review whether the Sales process can be aligned with the Purchase process, either by populating the account reference in CPTANALIN at Sales Order stage or by providing an equivalent method to enforce dimension control consistently across both subledgers.
