Please remove the necessity for a machine specific file on the client computer to register with the license server under a License Manager install. The problem with a client side file that is machine specific is this; in a Server 2012 VDI environment, whenever the VDI is rebooted it is set back to a “just installed” state. This creates a situation where the VDI must be re-registered through Estimating Tools on every reboot. In a Citrix environment where the Citrix servers are VM’s, this creates a very real issue. Please review support # 8004705401 for further details.

  • We are also having a similar problem in our Citrix XenApp farm environment using Machine Creation Services (MCS). Provisioned XenApp servers need to have licensing re-registered through Estimating Tools after each machine update. While not nearly as frustrating as Rick S. above, the ultimate solution is the same:

We need to be able to retain licensing, or have an automated method to push licensing out to published virtual desktops & application servers.

  • Thank you for your feedback. We are in the process of looking at the way we handle licensing. While I do not have a concrete time frame as of yet. I assure you your comments will be noted in the future design.
