Microsoft has announced an end of support date of December 31, 2012 for FRx. Sage will continue to support it, but in the long term we will need an alternative solution for creating Financial Reports.

Comments

  • Sage will be launching MAS Business Insights (BI) Intelligence around Summer of 2010 which will be the alternative to FRx.

  • Need an alternative that is NOT Excel based. Our data causes issues in Excel due to the number of GLs and Accounts we pull together.

  • Do you have a road map figured out for this yet? Is it going to go to EVERY user of v4.4 or just those users that have previously purchased FRx? If you are going to charge non FRx users (e.g. SB users or pre v4.X users) what is the pricing going to be. According to my sources at Insights this week, no one can answer this basic question!!!!!!

  • it would be nice to know since FRX is going away.

  • FRx will be around and supported until at least the end of 2012. For those happy with the product - stay with it for now.

As to Kemp O's comment regarding Sage Business Intelligence (SBI), we experienced the same issue with a client recently. We were told (by someone at Sage) to have the client upgrade their Excel to the 2010 version; that would eliminate their issues. The client was not thrilled with the suggestion and replied with ".....why should we pay thousands of dollars to upgrade our entire company's MS Office, and then pay a couple thousand dollars for an application that will export our MAS200 data to Excel? We can export our GL data to Excel now......for free!!..."

Although I had a decent argument, the client still passed on implementing SBI, for now. We agreed to re-visit the idea in 6 months.
That will also give Sage more time to make this application more comparable to FRx, as there is quite a loss of functionality going to SBI.

I know there are others who will argue with me on this, but I have been using FRx since its introduction to the MAS90 world. I have attended a few of the MAS Intelligence classes as well. Although I do not profess to be an expert, I can say it does have some impressive capabilities, but the functionality loss is a deal breaker for me.
