Give user option to select the default source of email address field on the sales order: 1) customer master, 2) contact record or 3) ship to record. This would also make the paperless office sending of sales orders much more effective.

Agreed! When selecting a different contact at the Confirm To field, it is really annoying that it doesn't copy the email address for that contact into the order. If thats who you're confirming the order to, that's the email address that needs to be tagged to the order.
Agree - especially the email for contact. Many companies have multiple buyers. Having to look up and manually enter the email for each quote/order is very time consuming an prone to errors.
Agree. When using Paperless you should be able to pick the contact to send via email or fax and have the email/fax populate in the Sales Order header field. This, used in combination with the Paperless option use in data entry would complete the circle. It is confusing for my customers that when they pick a Contact who they setup an email address for Customer Contact Maintenance it does not pull that email/fax into the Sales Order.
Agreed. I have a number of clients who have requested the ability to identify the email address with the confirm to contact on a sales order.
Agreed. As an end-user, SOME of my customers with multiple branches want their billing to go to each branch location, but they pay from one central HQ office. So the HQ becomes the main A/R record and we create a unique Ship-To and unique Contact (Bill-To) record for each branch. Thus multiple Contacts and ShipTos for this type of customer.(Otherwise, we'd just setup each branch as a different A/R customer)
We want to use "Ship-To" email addresses for our customer's purchasing agent. And Contact "Bill-To" email addresses for their Accounts Payable person.
Then during data entry of Sales Orders, the email address gets pulled from the "Ship-To" record. (the current behavior) And Sales Order Acknowledgments go to the right guy.
(And then have new functionality such that...)
During data entry of S/O INVOICES, we want the email address to be pulled from the "Contact/Bill-To" record, or perhaps just an option to do so, so the Invoice will go to the right (possibly different) guy, but not simply pulled in from the original Sales Order.
Then in A/R Customer Maintenance Paperless options, for both SO Order and SO Invoice, we'd have "Use from Data Entry" and be good to go. (I may be able to do this with a script, but it would be nice not to have to do so.)
Currently, if we designate a Contact Code for SO Invoices to go to, then Invoices from ANY branch goes there, because this option is set at the global (A/R Customer Maintenance) level. We just need a hair more granular control over the process.
Really couldn't say it better than everyone else explained it. Super frustrating!!
Yes! Often have heard this complaint from the order entry people
Totally. I find building the contact database in AR not useful when it isn't retrieved in SO. Would also like the contact phone number showing in SO and able to print on forms.
This would be great as a selection in Paperless Office/Customer Maintenance.
Completely agree with all of the comments. I am experiencing the same issues as well. It makes no sense that the email address is pulling from the customer Maintenance field regardless of the contact being used. I think their should be, at the very least, a pull down menu of the email addresses listed to choose from. Come on Sage 100...get on board!
