Why are customers paying maintenance for Payroll if they ultimately aren't going to get an updated module? The modules need to be consistent.

Comments

  • I have heard that 50% of MAS 90/200 customers use the payroll module.

  • Please specifically list the framework feature along with how the customer would use this feature in their business for payroll.

  • It would be nice to have all the data entry on one screen. The different tabs and screens are more than confusing to new users; especially now that most modules do not have 4 tabs of data entry.

  • The table structures should be updated to comply with the new standards and the data entry screens should utilize the same grid structures as the other modules. The Payroll module is an important component of the whole suite and needs to be maintained as such.

  • It would be easier to untie the Gordian Knot than to update Payroll.

  • Payroll should be updated, I totally agree. I would even just like to see a full screen so that I don't have to page down after just three lines of earnings. It's frustrating. I have also heard that the current PR extended solutions are going to be built in to either 4.4 or 4.5. About time.

  • I have customers in which seeing just a few line items on the screen makes it very hard to process payroll. They may have 5 different earnings on one paycheck and several deductions. The dual-grid entry would really help with that. Also, the framework offers less linking as you could have your UDFs in PR_Employee (for example) rather than one payroll employee data in PR1 and another in PR_90.

  • Yes - update P/R and job cost to the 4.0 standard PLEASE. It is a problem when attempting to write custom reports linking PR, JC & GL due to the data structure & linking. We currently have over 632 companies in MAS 90 using the payroll module. Some of these companies are copies due to: 1. the inability to produce W-2's after close & 2. Perpetual history dropping the EE name if they were terminated and removed at year end. It is amazing how often requests come in for EE history going back many years. We also need the ability to have multiple locals per EE.

  • Also allow deductions to be posted by department in framwork. now have to have multiple deduction codes for 401k employer match and will in future for employer contibution of health premiums

  • I would like to see a "benefits eligibilty date" field added to the employee maintenance screen so PTO, Sick Pay, etc. can reference that date instead of the hire date. This will allow a company to retain the original hire date as the hire date for an employee that started part time but ultimately changes to full time a few years later and still have their PTO benefits begin and adjust yearly based upon the company policies and the "benefits eligibility date".

  • Yes, payroll should be part of the business framework and brought up to 4.x standards. I really don't know how many customers use the module but why should the ones that do suffer. I also strongly agree with Jim P in regards to paying for maintenance on a module that has barely changed since 3.7 days. This module is long overdue for an overhaul.

  • Not only should payroll be updated to the business framework, but the tax tables should have date-driven functionality. Quickbooks is far & above MAS90 on this topic. Quickbooks can process payroll, quarterly & year-end reports for either year, just by choosing the date. The fact that MAS90 can only do one or the other is archaic! For being such a high-end product, it is definitely falling short of a product that can be bought at Staples!

  • Table structures, screens and reports should be consistent across modules, so Payroll should be upgraded to be consistent. It is particularly difficult to work the with the reports, as they can't be exported to a convenient format, such as Excel, and they can't be modified to add additional fields or change sorting and grouping.

  • I just switched from BusinessWorks, which has an outstanding PR module. I can't believe how difficult this is to work with, how hard it is to access information, and how much information is lost if you don't print certain reports during processing. At minimum, a 'best practices' guide should be offered.

  • Thanks for the tip on Business Works...all these posts are over a year ago and still nothing has been done...nice to know there are good alternatives out there.

  • At Sage Summit 2015, the indicated that the programmers are working on it now.

  • So what is this Desktop Payroll 2.0? Is that what we've been waiting for for so long?
