As more email providers are moving to some type of SMTP authentication requirements for their email it would be nice to be able to choose an outbound authentication option (i.e. SSL) when setting up the email server information in Company Maintenance.

I now have 2 clients who use Google's Gmail, and I expect there to be more as we upgrade them into 4.4 and take advantage of Paperless Electronic delivery.
This would be a very welcome addition as we are running a standalone relay server in-house just for this purpose. We would love to be able to remove this liability from our network and start using our Google Apps Premier account to send emails through so its logged in the same location, easily searchable, etc.
Especially because Paperless Office sends information that can be sensitive (such as government or medical contracts) for order or invoice or customer statement information, SSL encryption capability would be very important.
More and more end-users are using Google Apps (including us as their business partner). Electronic forms delivery is a great feature that I wish would could implement directly without a relay.
We also have many clients moving to Google Apps. It appears this will only increase with time.
Another vote by a google app user here. In the meantime we have to install a free SMTP app on our server to send emails. It's a pain to use and it would be so much nicer if we could just use google mail.
Right now trying to set up a clent that uses Gmail. Sage please add this feature.
We also have this issue internally and with two customers so far. It is not a fun conversation to tell them MAS has no ability for secure email.
Paperless Office features -- especially the emailing of new (and copies of old) invoices are VERY big sellers on upgrades. We go out of our way to make sure to sell this feature -- and I'd say it's one of the top 5 reasons that existing users have wanted to upgrade (versus being forced to by version discontinuation or needing to be compatible with Windows 7).
The problem with not allowing for all types of email connections is that if we promise the feature and then find that the client has a secure email connection it creates a lot of issues with explaining why they now have to develop workarounds.
You absolutely could argue that this problem could be resolved by analyzing the IT landscape ahead of time. However the issue usually is that the IT people aren't around, the folks in the accounting area have no clue what type of email they use (Outlook), and sometimes there's not even an IT person to ask.
The concept of secure email delivery isn't new -- and in order to avoid the dreaded "but my friend's $ xx.xx accounting system that they bought at Staples can do it" I think the feature should be added.
Paperless office is a flagship feature - please beef it up.
I really want to move to Google Apps for Business instead of Exchange and I don't want to have to create a work around for this... Please add this feature!!!
Chilkat does support TLS and SSL but Sy_PdfConverter.pvc does not have the hooks in it to send the TLS/SSL fields. Can Sage get the ChilkatMailMain DLL and a new version of SY_PDFconverter.pvc in a product update for both 4.30 and 4.40?
This feature will be a requirement as Google Apps gets more popular in the business world
We have Google Apps and need this feature. This is a simple fix! Please release a patch ASAP. You could put one programmer on this and have it ready in a day.
Wow, I'm shocked. This is the first time I've run into a client using gmail for their mail server, and now I have to break the news to them that they can't use Paperless Office for emailing. They were very excited about Paperless office, this will be a blow. Please fix this! Because of all the security issues, more email service providers will require SSL, so this will become more of a restriction for users as time goes on.
This is not 1995. Fix it.
There are roughly 5,000,000 free email clients that know how to talk to a modern SMTP server, so I'm fairly certain it isn't that difficult.
As Wayne S. said 7 months ago, Paperless Office is a flagship feature. The bosses are all amped up about it. Now it is a big PITA to implement because it has a problem that would take 15 minutes for a high-school-age programmer to fix.
Funny, you can use perl or php to crudely support SSL/TLS email transport for free, but you can't pay huge amounts for MAS200 and have the same security. In the good old DOS n'NetWare days this might have been acceptable. We just installed 4.4, have Paperless Office ready to roll out and this ink gob falls in and tears the web. Really? Why do we have to beg?
This is planned to be released with the 2013 (5.0) release at the end of the year.
Come on guys!! Really?? 2013 at the end of the year??? Fix it, Please!!!
Office 365 also requires SSL/TLS.
We also use Google Apps and were frustrated by this issue. Now we are using an SMTP service called SendGrid that is very easy to use and has additional features such as email delivery tracking for extremely low prices (or a free account). I highly recommend SendGrid as a very simple workaround.
Sage 100 version 2013 (aka 5.0) is going to be released at the end of this year 2012.
-- In other words this feature is planned to be released in few months.
Client just upgraded to 4.50 - can't beleive it is not supported now!
I agree -I would like to use paperless feature with Google email!
