Leave this blank unless an alias is entered by user. How does MAS90 know which alias the user wants associated with the item? The default should be no alias. Otherwise, if you want to print a po or so to show the alias only if entered, you cannot becuase the underlying record contains info the user did not input, which, is probably incorrect if you have multiple alias's

  • I wholeheartedly agree. If Sage does feel strongly on populating this field automatically, then they should populate it in this order: (1) User entered, (2) Customer (or Vendor) Alias, and (3) General. If they did this, then it would eliminate me having to make links to the Vendor/Customer alias file and get the one I need.

  • We've already run into this several times - the copy function assumes the Alias should be copied and it doesn't give you an option to uncheck Copy Alias. We happen to use the Alias as the UPC code for the General option which is populated on our sales orders, picking slips, and more. Likewise, we use the General Alias UPC for EDI order processing. Every time a user copies and ItemCode and the Alias copies automatically, we have to be VERY careful to update the Alias or we have product being shipped that shouldn't be shipped, losing money. This should be a no-brainer - give users the option when copying ItemCodes to uncheck the option to copy the Alias. It's far too risky to assume it should be copied.
