The zip code list in MAS is really, really outdated. Users have to waste time entering zip codes, when in reality updates to the US Zip code list could just as easily be incorporated via service packs or end of year IRD's.

Comments

  • Please update the US Zip code list!

  • Updating the file by overwriting the existing file will remove all the postal codes that users have added to the current install. IOW, it will wipe out all foreign or Canadian postal codes.

  • You can download a CSV file from many online services, then upload with a VI job. I have done this for several clients with the same request.

  • this should be added to the quarterly updates.

  • Sage has a write-up on this issue:
    http://infosource.sagesoftwareonline.com/sw_attach/kdb.asp?isresolutionconceptid=511566
It's listed as "NAB" which means "Not A Bug".

  • If they are going to force zip codes to be validated, they REALLY need to provide a way to keep them updated. They would not have to overwrite the existing Zip Code file to do this. They could write a fairly simple program to merge new zip codes into the existing zip code file when you install updates or upgrade. For each zip code in the latest zip code file, check to see if it already exists in the existing MAS zip code file and if so, skip it. No overwrites or lost records, just updated information.

  • The best way for Sage to resolve this, would be to have a standard file that stores all the zip codes they give you and then have a separate table that stores user changes. This way, if users make manual changes, they would not be affected by the uploads from Sage.

  • especially Canadian postal codes, please.

  • The current Zip Codes file is a joke. I have to populate it with a dot or some other garbage in the State field since Sage did not think you may not do business with companies outside USA. What happens when I ship a product to Israel or Italy, they have zip codes but do not have states.

  • In the zip code maintenance window I would also like to see a field for County/Parish to help in figuring out the proper sales tax rate for that zip code

  • This is in the Planned State - any ETA when it will be completed?

  • This would have been great months ago. We got tired of waiting for the update, so I just went out and downloaded the list of US zip codes (44k+) and generated a VI job to update the database. I also did the same thing for the Canadian postal codes (765k+). That job took a few hours to run...

  • We will be updating the Zip Code list in the 2013 (5.0) release.
