While the documentation states that Cost of Goods Sold (or COGS plus Markup) will be passed to StarShip as the package Declared Value for insurance purposes, zero cost is passed for all kits. Sage has declared this feature "working as designed". If you want the software to conform to the documentation you should vote for this idea.

This has been a costly "feature". Many of our finished goods are kits. We 'thought' we were insured, but MAS90 sent $0 as declared value for a shipment with a cost of $2K so all we got back from UPS was the standard $100 when the package was lost.
Out contract with UPS gives us invoice value for replacement. We've asked for enhancement to add declared value to be the same as COD value or invoice total.
