After upgrading MAS 200 from version 4.10 to version 4.30 we imported time from our timeclock as usual. Now, when we edit the imported entries a new warning message appears:

"Warning! Earnings have been edited. Any Cafeteria or Pension Plan deduction, which needs to be applied to this edit, should be deleted and re-entered."

We are experienced users and are well aware of the need to do this. It is time-consuming to display the warning message for each edited record then clear the message. While there is a need for this message for inexperienced users, we need an option to turn off this warning during payroll data entry when an earnings line is edited after any pre-tax deductions have already been applied in Sage MAS 90 and 200.

Employers that import time entries or automatically pay employees and take the automatic deductions, often need to edit the earnings entries. This brings up the warning message. For these employers, it is time-consuming to display the warning message for each edited record.

  • Instead of simply disabling the warning message, I would rather see the resources spend on RECALCULATING the cafeteria or pension plan deductions so that you wouldn't have to delete and reenter them. THAT is the pain! Fix that and you can eliminate the warning message for all level of users!

  • We are adding a way to recalculate deductions in 4.50. It will be similar to what Extended Solution PR-1116: Deduction Recalculation in Payroll Entry does. That message will be removed in the process and an option will be added to prompt to recalculate upon accepting the payroll entry.
