"Record in PR6 P/R data entry file is in use by another task. Update will continue to retry until record is available" when updating Payroll Check Register occurs if the bank code file is in use (Resolution 499540). Request is for the system to complete a record lock instead of a table lock. At the very least request that the error message specifically indicates the bank code file is in use to help identify which task needs to be closed.

Yes.. please fix this.... I get irritated as hell when I have to wait for either AP or AR to get done with their stuff before I can finish mine. Why not post it in a Holding Batch and have GL update LATER!

At least provide an option to restart the update when the Bank Code is available. The way this is written, the users workstation is rendered useless until the update can continue as the message continually pops up.
This happened to my client the other day when someone was entering PO Receipts and they could not finish the check run until they kicked everyone out to try and see who was causing the lock.
My clients almost always get it from PO entries
