This should be an easy fix.

  • The line items on PO's must stay in the same order as the line items on the Sales Orders. Many different problems are created by organizing them in numerical order.

  • This would sure make it easier on both the customer and the vendor!

  • SWK Technologies has developed an add-on for this that will generate a PO from an SO with the line items sorted by line number not item number.

  • Business reason to order p/o lines by s/o line sequence:
s/o created, all items drop shipped, first special item on that single order is the primary item (boiler, furnace, etc), and the rest of the items are accessories for the primary items. By referencing special items, when generated on the p/o, it is entirely possible the primary item (boiler, furnace, etc) will appear on the bottom of the purchase order.

  • We enter items as specified by our customers POs. We also tag items in groups according to where they go in our customers building. Having the items switching to be numerical messes that whole systems up and requires me to re-enter the entire order in the PO screen so it is in the correct order.

  • - Medium size businesses come in all shapes, sizes, and verticals
    - Some are light users of the Purchase Order module, some are heavy users of the Purchase Order module
    - Some have one-to-several line items per purchase order (and sales orders) and some have hundreds of sales order line items, and therefore hundreds of purchase order line items.
    - For a company with hundreds of lines on a sales order, there will be hundreds of lines on the corresponding purchase order created from that sales order.
    - Currently there is nothing in the PO_PurchaseOrderDetail that would allow a custom Crystal report to resort the lines on PO to match the sequence on the sales order.
    - Therefore on purchase orders with hundreds of line it is virtually impossible to match/reconcile the purchase order against the corresponding sales order and distinguish between sales order lines that ended up on a purchase order from those that do not require a purchase order.
    - Please provide more functionality to businesses such as ours that are heavily dependent on the Purchase Order module by allowing a choice of how purchase order lines are sequenced on a purchase order created from a sales order.
