In the new 4.50 Feature for Sales Order Line Item Commission (by Sales Rep, Customer, Item # and Effective Date), it would be helpful to add Product Line to this setup.
Currently, if you want to pay a certain commission to a sales rep (or based on customer) for a given product line, you have to enter each item within that product line individually. Being able to establish the commission rate by Product Line would make the maintenance of the Line Item Commission structure much easier.

Additionally, we pay commissions on products calculated as a percentage of their sale price. We can run a report that tallies up how much commission is due to the vendor/salesperson, but that report does not take into account the discount rates on the individual sales. Adding this functionality would save us approximately 20 hours of work every month.
Product Line defines how we organize our products and is a key sort field in most of your item related reports. The ability to populate Line Item Commissions based on the Product Line commonality is consistent with the way we and most users have established the categorization in the first place. Please adopt this.
BTW how about considering a date range for "Effective Date" rather than the current choice of only the begin date. Just as Promotions have a date range, Line Item Commissions needs it as well.
