When a discontinued item is placed on Sales Order, you get a warning that the item has been discontinued, do you want to continue? Choices of Yes & No.
If there is an alternate item setup, there should be a 3rd selection that allows you to pick an alternate, or view the alternate without first having to select Yes to place the discontinued item on the order & then check for alternates.
This would help sell an item instead of a customer service rep either erroneously trying to place it on an order or not continuing that could possibly lose the sale of the alternate.
