The ProvideX file-based database is slow to query data from and Microsoft SQL Server licenses are cost prohibitive.

The prices for Sage 100 Standard, Advanced, and Premium are the same, regardless of whether ProvideX or Microsoft SQL Server is used as the backend database, BUT... it's the cost of the server license and CALs of Microsoft SQL Server, in addition to the cost of Sage 100, is what makes it cost prohibitive for the small company I work for.

If Sage were to support Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition, that would alleviate the cost of the server license and CALs.

Express Edition is deliberately hamstrung on processor and RAM use, as well as having no SQL Agent, but even with its limitations, it beats the snot out ProvideX every day of the week!

Sage 100 should support Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition.
