As an administrator, it would be nice for the "system status" task to not reserve a MAS 500 license, and thus not take up a license spot. This would be beneficial by letting the administrators view which users are taking up a license, while at the same time not reserving a license.

Why not just use SQL Activity Monitor. Or run a trace to see the SQL command used by this screen.
