It will be advantageous to users to be able to refer to more than one reporting tree at a time within an Excel formula. For example, our company uses two account segments: one is the natural account, and one is the department. We built a reporting tree for each segment. We used workarounds in order to achieve the results we need in our reports. We are lucky because one of the reporting trees is relatively short with few branches, currently.

To liken this functionality to FRx, reports were built by row and column templates. Then, reports could be run for particular ranges in an account segment. For example, one could run an income statement for departments 300 through 500. Unfortunately, SMI cannot handle this reporting. We created a tab for each department that will receive the report automatically via distribution instructions.
