Provide a report for inventory that can be run at any time for any period that will actually balance to the trial balance. I am manually creating an inventory report at the end of each month in order to back out current month transactions to get the prior month reporting. If I lose any of my manual reports, it will be nearly impossible to get any detailed report of what makes up inventory at a certain point in time in history.

Yes - Yes - Yes! All inventory reports/transactions should be period related. The user should be able to know exactly what shipments & receipts are by PERIOD! And be able to balance inventory to G/L at any time for a particular period!
Yes! We need to print an inventory on hand at the end of a period as an inventory control measure.
YES should be able to retrieve an inventory report for any period or date range. The quantity on hand report is completely useless unless everything is caught right up on the exact day you want your counts & values.....not the real world .
