This is a great idea!
I would add that you have this issue when entering information on a grid, such as on a 6-4-1 or 9-5. I would suggest making the "move from one Tab to the other" (like from prime tab to sub tab on 6-4-1 change order) to be more in line with modern tabbed browsing i.e. CTRL+TAB to change tabs, like IE, Chrome, etc.
You can use Tab or Enter when entering field information. Many, many years ago Enter was the only way to do it, but not anymore.
