I would like to set the default to be when any file is dragged from anywhere and dropped in the record that the system will automatically copy the file to the network directory with the accounting database. Right now the only way I can see to do this is to open the attachment window and click browse, navigate to the file, click on it, then click the option "I want to keep a copy of the file." When ever you drag a file to the window it creates a link. I cannot find anywhere the option to set a default for attaching files.

I struggled with this until I realized this: if the file is located on a network share, it creates a link, otherwise it copies the file. If you right-clink on a file, then click properties, look at the file location...if it starts with C:\ then it will make a copy in the MB file structure. If the file location starts with \\ or is a network drive, it makes a copy.
I completely agree. Most of colleagues drag and drop, which creates more issues than we expected. PLEASE HELP BY MAKING THIS A DEFAULT FUNCTION!
If it is a file it should ALWAYS copy it to the database, not link.
I agree with Kevin, it should be a hard copy. if someone mistakenly deletes the file off the server then there is no hard copy
