If a field in 9-2 parts doesn't impact costs, it would be nice if it could be maintained by users via uploads. Since Sage works well with Excel, it would be helpful to do file reviews or field development in Excel and then upload the file back into Sage without needing assistance from a Sage partner. This could include alpha parts, description, and user defined fields.
