There needs to be a better way to correct wrong period postings especially relating to payroll. Either an admin ability or so without needing to void and recreate all the records. I understand if a year or period has been closed but until then I should be able to make a correction without needing to jump through hurdles to correct something as simple as a period posting change.

  • I agree 100%- I just called about this and the only way to correct it is to redo the checks...COPY VOID COPY PASTE...doing that is going to waste so much of my time!

  • Also there appears to be an issue (temporary) when Payroll is final computed, that the job cost records are created and appear in job cost reports based on the current period, and this renders the reports in correct until the payroll is posted to the G/L, when the period automatically changes to the period selected by the user during G/L check posting. In our case we final compute 2 days before the check post, so the reports are always wrong for 2 days near the beginning of the month when reconciling is the main focus and it can't be done, causing more delays in financial reporting. this would be resolved if the user could change the period at final compute timecards (which is when the job cost records are created).

  • I've been complaining about this for years. Why is it not possible to void and or reverse Payroll GL postings using a range (i.e. check date, check number, etc). We can POST Payroll records to the GL in a range via 5-2-6 why can we not reverse the posting in the same manner? You can limit the use of this function to "Supervisor" or "Admin" security level. This Function could void the GL transaction (1-3) and reset the Payroll Record (5-2-2) from "Posted" to "open". You could then rerun the 5-2-6 Post Payroll to General Ledger. Thus you have a 5 to 10 minute fix for correcting incorrect post to the GL period or to the incorrect cash account. This has got to be a fairly common occurrence!
