If you have multiple inventory locations (for example inventory in two different states) the program will allow you to allocate more inventory than is available from one location and it pulls it from another location. This throws the original location into a negative and in turn makes the inventory in the second location incorrect.

Comments

  • This is worded incorrectly. Sorry!

Sage allows you to allocate more than what is available in a particular location if you have inventory of the same part in another location throwing your overall inventory off because of the negative amount in the one location.
If you don't have inventory of the same part in another location Sage doesn't allow you to enter the allocation that throws the part into a negative "insufficient quantity on hand".

Why is is possible in one instance and not the other?

Either way there should be some sort of verification (i.e. a password must be entered) before the transaction is saved so this does not happen unknowingly.

  • We have the same issue. We have several warehouses throughout the state we should not be able to rob from another warehouse unless we do a warehouse transfer.
