Currently we use the phase numbers to link several subprojects to a master project, thus making our phase # longer than they should be. I would like to see the ability to create a Master Project that can be linked to associated Sub-Projects.

  • I disagree that this is necessary. For one, you already have phases and it is working as intended. This makes it very easy for reporting. If any of your groupings in the report are by phase, you can see the detail for each individual phase.

In addition, with report selection criteria, you can run reports for several jobs.

If your phase list is too long, just break the job into several jobs, and either number them in a pattern or use a common phrase in the name. Eg. you should name your jobs ABC Building 1, ABC Building 2, ABC Building 3, etc. Then when you are running reports, you could specify: Job Name Contains "ABC Building", and it will run the report for all three of the "ABC Building" jobs. Another way around this is to number the jobs one right after another. Eg. Jobs #s 1000, 1001, 1002 are all the same client and physical location; you could run any job report that says Job Number Between "1000 and 1002" for that location.
