There should be a button on the bottom of the 3-5 screen [like change orders and payments] so you don't have to exit the 3-5 for the job status information you can get in 6-1-1-31. It would be great if it was all right there on the same screen

Try using the 6-12 Project Work Center and you will see that info. Those buttons at the bottom of the 3-5 screen are not reports, they are lookup windows for tables of data.
