It was a quick and easy way to write simple reports for everyday use or a specific one time function. Especially when you need to pull specific data items into a report. Crystal reports is overkill most of the time.

For Exporting, it was very fast. We have continued to use it when available in combination with VI where we had an export/adjust data/re-import for a large data set. An example was adjusting 500K of IM price records.
Business Insights Reporter?
I would suggest using the Business Insights Explorer. Explorer views are very easy to use and the data can be printed, previewed, or exported to Excel.
Customized ALE filtered and viewed on screen or exported to Excel and totaled is gives fast and dirty reports, faster than we used to get with Report Master, IMO. It's usually faster than BIE, too.
Not a day goes by that I don't use an Excel query to pull the data I am looking for. Then create a pivot table from that. Quick, easy, efficient.
I agree!! After using MAS90 for years, since the upgrade I can't write my own reports quickly like the good old days.
I had to pay over thousands to have new reports written when we upgraded because I am not a report writer.
There is a way to do this, even in v4.4: File/Run/*UnhideRM- voila!
Same for Custom Financials: File/Run/*UnhideGL
