Version 4.x of MAS is 2-10x slower than version 3.x. We find it's unusable in a normal install, we have to run it via Terminal Services. Screen pops and inquiries that used to take 1 second or less now take 4-8 seconds...an eternity when a customer is on the phone!

  • Please Please Please! Our first upgrade from 3.71 was a big dissapointment because of the slowness issue.

  • I also agree that the performance of 4.x is extremely slow, especially when running crystal reports. I have a quad core PC with 4 gigs ram and a simple crystal report listing all the invoices process for the day takes, 2-3 minutes to run from my PC, but if i remote into server and run right from server it takes only 20 seconds. It was my understanding that all the processing is being done on the server anyway.

  • I agree, the screens seem to take quite a bit longer to display. We have a couple of clients (on MAS90) that are complaining about Crystal Reports speed as well. It appears as though the reports that access only one or two data files are fine, but as soon as you get three or, a report with a sub-report, those reports do take significantly longer. In one instance we compared an Inventory report on 4.1 to the same report on 4.4 - it took over 5 minutes longer to generate the report on the 4.4 version (total time over 7 minutes). Client is not thrilled.....

  • Searching in general takes long. It would be great to see some of Google's search capability in MAS in a generic search field that would find any vendor, customer, item related. If user is authorized they can click on the search result and it would open up vendor / item / customer maintenance or inquiry.

  • I have 4 clients who have upgraded from 3.71 to 4.3 and 4.4 and they are very upset about the screen load times from 5 - 8 seconds. One especially and they have done the anti-virus tweeks. The client actually said to me 'it's just a clunky application'. It is ridiculous. What in the world is it doing when it loads a screen. They also looked for any bogus printers and got rid of them. Like another above, remote desktop to the server itself is fast which is where most clients do their testing.

  • Agreed. With multi-core GigE attached, low latency systems like are available today, a truly fast and snappy MAS system should not be a problem to create.

  • When trying to enter multi-line Sales Order (greater than 30 lines) the grid takes 8-10 seconds to load and then gets slower with each subsequent addition of a line. This is ridiculous! Didn't have this problem with version 3.71. Please fix!!!

  • I agree. Most of the inquiries, reports, etc. in SAGE are Crystal Reports. Crystal Reports is not user friendly and desperately needs to be updated or use a different program to create reports needed so a user can make changes to margins, etc and pop up on the screen quicker. I went through the firewalls and it is still slow. Waiting, waiting, waiting for something to load.
