Add import to delete/renumber/merge in all areas when users are in

Add ability to import or key into the delete/renumber/merge data files for inventory, customers, vendors when users are in the system. This way, a large delete/renumber/merge process can be "staged" to be run when users are out. Only allow updating these when users are out.

  • This would be fantastic for obvious reasons mentioned. As it stands now, I have to enter a list in customers, vendors, and/or inventory at month-end weekend before the next business day (Monday), then update. If I was to be able to enter the lists in prior (with no lock on the data entry portion), then the updates could be ran in relatively short time on the friday after hours before going home, giving the weekend free.

  • More importantly I think is the ability to continue to use VI to populate the file. This has been a very common method when renumbering a large number of items. Items can be pulled into Excel, user is able to leverage Excel to automate the renumbering scheme, then import into the DRM file and go. This is a pretty big deal.

  • Absolutely a great idea. Very helpful to be able to enter items in need of renumber/merging as they are discovered, instead of having to save a list for later entry.

  • It used to be this way. The files only need to be locked to execute the process. Same with changing cost method. This was advocated for in beta/crm and should have been implemented by now.

  • Also, add a record count similar to what is displayed in V/I (e.g. record N of M) during the DRM process. This is especially helpful when processing large data sets that takes several hours to complete

  • This may have been fixed on the import side, but I don't import. There is still no way to key in advance in the delete/ change item field. There is a deley key, but what good is it if you can't build a list prior to posting.
