I look after several companies' books and we all have the same types of items to bill however, the staff in each area have set up different codes for the same items. There is no consistency between the companies and I want to change the current codes to make them consistent and then run reports on prior history that would reflect these changes.

Yes please! Having old items numbers cause so much confusion when suppliers make changes to the item codes. Makes it almost impossible for someone that does not work with purchasing on a daily routine to efficiently create purchase orders, or the incorrect items are order.
Please...Please...Please I have Item Codes that need to be updated/changed, but the history must follow. Example "o" to "0" or add/remove a dash/space etc. I also have the need for a Item Code to completely change when we get the same item from a new/different vendor, but needs to maintain history.
Love the Delete and Renumber Utility in Inventory--agree we need the same ability with Miscellaneous Item Codes: this would allow us to clean up codes and make the consistent across multiple companies.
