When entering checks their should be a flag of some kind letting you know this customer is on credit hold. Then if the payment received resolves the past due status you may link to customer maint to remove credit hold.

You can presently use the UDF logic to create a field in Cash Receipts entry to pull in the hold invoice field from the AR master and display it in Cash receipts entry. This will accomplish your goal of knowing if the account is on hold.
This will be available in the 2025 Release, scheduled for April 2025.
The "Customer On Credit Hold" message will display in A/R Cash Receipts Entry when the Credit Hold check box is selected for the customer in A/R Customer Maintenance.
