I agree. When exporting A/R history it would be easier to reconcile a customer account.
The number IS stored with a negative sign in front (example, AR_Customer table, HighestStmntBalance field). However, it exports (example: from Customer List lookup to Excel) with the negative sign in back. That's when Excel has trouble seeing the value as a number.
There is a way to convert in Excel:
Excel's Text to Columns utility can do it for selected (draw a box or highlight a column) numbers. Instructions with screen shots, as well as a VB script, are available (Sage is NOT responsible for the contents of external sites!):

Exporting to excel has been changed to export negative values with the sign in front of the number. This change was included in the Sage 100 2021 release.
