If a user has only "Create" permissions in SO Entry, they are still able to "Modify" an existing sales order.
A simple way to distinguish this would be to key off the "Print Order" flag. If not printed, then any user with "Create" permissions can edit it. Once printed, and the flag cleared, only someone with "Modify" permissions can get into the order
Who would want this:
A company that wants to limit who can create a record and/or modify an already entered one
Why it's Valuable:
Prevents create-only users from changing a placed sales order, allowing for tighter control of the order and who can modify it.
How it would be used:
Allows for more granular security settings
How it differes from other ideas or existing features:
The feature exists, but it doesn't work, which is misleading to customers. Please make this feature *functional*

This is HUGE! I have had issues with 3 different companies where they have people go in and enter and Order, send for picking and shipping, then go back in and MODIFY to be something much different resulting in major losses in THEFT!!
Add the ability to restrict modifications to SO quantity and SO Invoice quantity for specified users. Make order quantity changes auditable.
I agree-the number of MAS companies that would benefit and appreciate this feature is Huge! Changes to the ship via or ship date occur often. The Role setting for the ability to 'Modify' is too restrictive in the SO module.
The ability to modify the order quantity should be an available Role or an SO Option setting (including Shipping Option) I prefer the idea of an Option setting with an over-ride security feature/setting. This eliminates the need to modify Roles since not everyone who has the ability to over-ride qty on order should have the ability to modify Roles. This is a means of inventory theft control, a security measure.

Why have the Modify check box showing if it will always default to "yes" when create is set to "yes". The customer wants to be able to restrict who can change an order / invoice to prevent unauthorized changes to sales order / SO invoices.
Would like to have the ability to restrict clerks from going in after the fact and changing the data on an SO Invoice. Managers should be the only ones allowed to do so to reduce the chance of employee theft.
