When an RMA generates a Sales Order for repair, the option to create the Sales Order as a quote instead of a standard order should be available in RMA options screen. Reason behind this, while waiting for the customer to approve the repair order, the inventory items are showing up used, but in fact are still available until the customer actually approves order. Currently our inventory is off by a huge margin because we have a hundreds of items waiting for approval.

  • Exception to this would be Cross Shipped items. Since cross shipped items do not need approval, they should be generated as Standard Sales Orders.

  • Our situation is very similar to Jaime's. We are a manufacturer and have units that come back to us to be repaired or rebuilt. After inspecting the unit we give the customer a quote for the repair/rebuild prior to getting a purchase order from them to proceed with the work. We would like to be able to set the Order Type to ‘Quote’, work up a quote price, and change the Order Type to ‘Standard Order’ once the quote is approved by the customer.

  • I just submitted the very same idea before reading this. And easy fix for sage to do. A quote is a sales order, so I'm sure it is very simple for them to make such change.
