Provides much more flexibility in manufacturing. Some subassemblies are stocked subassemblies while others are non-stocked subassemblies. In the BOM and WO modules you have the choice of exploding components, but you don't have the capability to explode some subassemblies while not exploding others. If you have MRP you don't even have the capability to explode subassemblies.
