  • I cannot read your post above; it cut off.

  • Right click and Source produced the following.

Sage MAS 90 and 200 Ideas: I would suggest that you be honest with customers to whom you suggest an upgrade. We recently upgraded to 4.4 and I now find that posting such things as cash receipts and A/P checks takes about 4 times LONGER than before. This was never mentioned during our upgrade meetings. Also, most of what I have encountered in the new version is merely change for the sake of change, just moving things around which also takes longer to accomplish than with the previous version. This upgrade is a complete waste of time.

  • Seriously? Can you emplain why it takes longer?

  • Did you upgrade from a 3.x version? Do your computers meet the new hardware requirements? Would recommend at least 2 GB ram. Are you referring to taking longer to data enter or to run updates? Updates will be a little slower but not 4x unless you don't have sufficient RAM.

  • The slowness you are experiencing in v4.X is well documented by Sage in their knowledge base and should have been brought to your attention by your reseller. There are many reasons for this (antivirus settings, increased network bandwidth requirements due to more files being opened by MAS, etc.). If you did upgrade from v3.71 and have not replaced your hardware in recent years, you will encounter the sluggish response. Gb NIC's and switches will speed the response time as well as having lots of memory on the workstations.

Having said that, I do not have a single client that would return to v3.71. The enhancements in v4.X give them the ability to be more efficient by saving them time and money. Work with your reseller to improve the response time and give the new system a chance to prove why it was not a waste of time (and money).

  • I wish Sage would acknowledge and work on having screens open up faster. I agree that anti-virus is a big big factor in slowness, but even with anti-virus turned off and nothing else open, it is still too slow to open screens and I'm talking about from different companies and different computers - some workstations brand new - plus gigabit, etc. When they say there is more io and bandwidth needed - by just opening up a screen I wouldn't think the application is dragging a whole bunch of data across. Please please please look into it. It is a huge problem out there for alot of clients. Especially Sales Order screens. I am looking at 4 customers this week who have upgraded recently and all are complaining about the speed is unbearable. In the future we are including in the statement of services that the upgrade is slower.
